Moles crabs (Emerita Talopoida) are a very popular and effective surf fishing bait. These curious little crabs have five pairs of legs, no pincers and are well known for burrowing into the sand. Just about any child that has spent any time at the beach has dug up and played with mole crabs.

A  Sand Flea Rake  is used to catch mole crabs, aka sand fleas .  I am not sure how common it may be, but my nephews call them crigger jiggers.  Anyway, sand fleas are the perfect bait for fish that feed right in the surf zone.  Catching them by hand can be back breaking and [...]
